MY MOTHER'S LOVE STORY
Rahul, a 16-year-old boy, lives with his mother in Bengaluru.
One day, when he was cleaning his bookshelf he found an old diary of his mother. He
as a kid was super excited to read what were his mother’s ideas and do she commits
mistakes too? or does she have secrets? He started reading it and discovered his
mother was a private detective and was highly impressed by her profession. He out
of joy ran towards her mother and told her about him reading her diary. His mother
got nervous as she was supposed to keep her profession a secret forever. Rahul’s
mother was very passionate about her job, she always felt proud that she has
got a chance to serve her country and she wanted to do the best for it. The country
was her first love and she eliminated every person from her life who tried to
intervene in her profession. Once when she went out for investigation with her
colleague and her husband mistook that she was cheating on him. On being upon asked the
truth, she chose to divorce her husband on grounds of cheating instead of revealing
her profession.
For her patriotism was above her family. She asked her son to keep this matter a secret as she was not allowed to tell her profession to people. She was refrained from revealing it. Rahul agreed and went out to play with his friends.
When he was playing in the park, he overheard some aunties talking about his mother. He went closer to listen to them and listened to them carefully. He heard them saying, “Rahul's mother is free women, the only job she has to do is travel the world and spend all his ex-husband’s earnings which she got after divorce. HAHAHA!!!”. Rahul was unable to control himself after listening to this. He went to them and blubbered out his mother’s big secret which she hid from the world for so long. Soon the secret spread like fire in their society and then in Bengaluru. Rahul’s mother was fired from her job on the grounds of not binding to the clauses. Rahul’s mother stressed out, she felt like her son has stabbed her, she was helpless. She felt her heart coming out of the chest on being separated from her first love, she went mad. She threw things and unable to handle the trauma and shame, she committed suicide leaving a note behind, “I was born for this country, but the right to die for the country is no more mine. I have no reason to live in this judgemental society, where one is forced to speak out secrets to keep his/her integrity. I am ashamed of my son.”
Rahul was shifted to his father’s residence in Mumbai. His father explained to him, “the people will pass the comments whether you do good or you do bad. You cannot satisfy each and everyone in this world. Someone will always be unhappy and to make everyone happy you will suffer heavy losses and one such loss you have suffered is bidding farewell to your mother. If you had controlled your emotions, your mother would have been with you.” Rahul felt disheartened and a coward. He was sad that he was the reason behind his mother’s death. He felt that he must complete the love story of his mother. He felt like joining The Indian Army. He studied hard to clear exams. He was failed in his first attempt, many people told him that he is a son of a businessman he should discontinue it, but this time he didn’t listen to anyone. He controlled his emotions and worked hard towards making his mother’s love story his own. He distanced himself from the judgments of the people and worked hard for himself. He didn’t care about anyone else. He was able to clear exams in his second attempt. He passed all his tests and within three years he became a paratrooper. He was able to feel his mother’s love towards the country. He was able to know the pride which an army officer gets to serve his country. He was able to feel a different rush inside him which led him towards patriotism. After years when he was on his mission, he was shot at the back by the enemy. He kept fighting for two hours after being shot. When he realized that he won’t be able to fight any longer, he sat beside the tree and took some soil in his hand and quoted, “iss mitti mai janam lene ka mera maqsad aaj pura hua, maine apni maa ka pyaar pura kiya hai, mujhe fakra hai apni maa aur iss desh pe. JAI HIND. (the motive to born in this pure soil is fulfilled today, I completed my mother's love story and I am proud of my mother and my country.) ” And his soul rests in peace.
This Independence Day let us all together pledge to seek freedom from the judgments. Let us remember our freedom fighters who worked for themselves with a mission to make their country free, they didn’t care about what people will say, if they did I am sure the scene of our freedom would have been something else today. Let us work towards making ourselves better instead of doing things for people. Wishing everyone a pleasant and joyful Independence Day.
